Prevent Accidental Quitting in macOS

The Command + Q keyboard shortcut is used to quit apps in macOS and has been in use since before macOS was Unix-based. Pressing Command + Q in macOS exits the current program. However, there's a risk of accidentally quitting the browser because the Q key is located next to the Tab key. This is especially problematic when toggling between apps using Command + Tab, as it can lead to potential loss of unsaved data.

Prevent accidental quitting

  1. At the top right, click Menu
  2. Select Preferences > Appearance
  3. Toggle on Show warning before quitting with âŒ˜Q
